Digital Theatre licenses productions from content providers, and those licenses can expire if we don't renew them. We strive to keep the content you want to see, but we acquire licensing rights for productions for a set period of time, not indefinitely, so some titles do leave Digital Theatre.
Whenever a license is running out, we evaluate whether to renew it using the same criteria we apply to potential new content. We consider factors like:
- Are the rights to renew the licence still available?
- What is the usage of that title among our subscriber and rental base?
- What is the cost of the licence for that particular title?
- Are there other factors, such as restrictions, that may apply?
Sometimes we are able to restore our productions after the license expires so they are only removed temporarily. Unfortunately, the removal of productions are permanent and we are unable to offer them again. We don’t always know whether it will be permanent or temporary, but we always endeavor to restore or replace content so our customers aren't missing out.
